My Favorite Logo

  •  A logo that I really like is Hollister's logo. The red color of the bird really stands out from the dark background and the logo in general looks simple and bold (because of the font and colors).

  • I like the SEASUN logo because the background and the logo match very well together. The logo overall looks very calm and relaxing. Also, the logo of the sun with lines makes it seem like the sun is actually setting in the water which relates to it's brand name seasun.

  • I also liked the FOCUS logo because it is very simple and plain and it the box around the letter c really gets the audience to focus on the letter, which relates back to the word.

  • Fly cycle's logo is another logo I like because it is cute and creative. Using the word fly cycle the logo shows two wheels connected to wings, which clearly conveys the company's name.

  • I really like the turn logo because it is unique where the logo spells out turn when you look at it from the top or bottom. It conveys the word turn clearly and in a creative way.

  • I like this logo because the logo uses a headphone plug to create the letters AM, it is very creative and the background matches the logo very well.

What's your Stance? Blog Reflection

Final Version

1. I believe my stance is clear within my poster. In the poster I used a rolled up $100 that was being burnt to demonstrate that smoking is a waste of money. Next, I used a smoky skull to convey that smoking is dangerous and can lead to death. My stance is further emphasized by my message "save your money save your life" written in bold and placed in the middle of the poster. In the message "money" and "life" were emphasized by using a different font from the words "save your" and written with a larger font size.

2. The thumbnail sketches were really helpful in giving me many possible ideas for the final poster. I created my final poster by combining different themes and pictures from the thumbnails. My final poster came out successfully and similar to what I drew for my thumbnail sketches.

3. Attached below is my first version of the poster. The changes I made from the first version to the last version were the font, font sizes, addition of cigarette ashes and a contrast in the colors. In the last version I used two different fonts to emphasize "life" and "money" and added in cigarette ashes to show the litter smoking leaves. The large white circle in the middle of the poster represents hope: if the person who reads the poster listens to the message and stops smoking they may be able to escape the short and long term consequences of smoking and save their money.

First Version
4. The category I thought my project is the strongest is in concept. I think I used effective fonts and proper placement of the objects to convey my message. Also, I believe my message was strong and concise to get my point across.

5. The most challenging aspect of the project was thinking of a message that was powerful and concise. Originally I planned to put up statistics on how much money people spent on cigarettes annually but decided against it because it was not eye catching or interesting.

6. The most challenging aspect of the project was the choosing the font and design for my message. The font I was going for was smoky and bold and many of the fonts were either too tiny or not bold enough.

My Stance

Social media serves as a powerful tool that helps people communicate with one another as well as learn of current events that are happening around us. Some may be aware of the issue in Brooklyn Tech and the hashtag that was created from it. This hashtag was created to reveal the unnecessary discrimination black students are receiving from teachers, faculty members and even their own classmates. I fully support this hashtag and believe black students from Brooklyn Tech and every where else can receive the justice they deserve. It it horrifying and disgusting seeing and hearing the comments students make about black people but even more so when teachers do the same. In my opinion teachers are supposed to help students and give them hope rather than putting them down. The reason many of us attend school is to learn and prepare ourselves for the outside world and learn to take care of ourselves. It is disheartening hearing the people who are supposed to support us telling us we are failures and will not become anything in the future regardless of what we do. I firmly believe that one should not judge another person solely on their race but of their achievements and the effort they put into doing anything. Everyone is equal and are entitled to the same rights, no matter what race ethnicity, gender or sex they are and I hope the black students of Brooklyn Tech will receive the justice they deserve.

Another issue I feel strongly about is creating and enforcing more laws that prohibits smoking in front of children. I am aware that many people smoke and it is something very difficult to quit. However, smoking has consequences for the smoker and the people around them, There are many people who are exposed to secondhand smoking and it is not something they can avoid. However, it is unfair that because of the selfish act of one person many others must suffer as well. I have a friend who was exposed to too much secondhand smoking she developed asthma. It is ridiculous how others suffer because an individual can't control themselves. One can propose that you walk away when they encounter another person smoking, but it's not that simple. It's practically impossible to not be in an area where there is not smoking as the number of people who smoke is immense and everywhere. By creating and enforcing a ban on people smoking near children it can lower the chance of secondhand smokers inquiring health conditions.
